I am reminded of the Scriptures in Hebrews 11 where it say, “The world was not worthy of them.” This passage was talking about martyrs and people who forsook the pleasures of this world to serve the King.
This past weekend Jennifer and I were with such men and women of God. Some served Zion as secretaries, dining room attendants, grounds keepers and prayer warriors. Some had graduated and served the Lord in both small churches and large churches alike. Regardless of the size of their ministry, all were still contending for the faith in worship, through testimonies and through the preaching of the Word. What a sight to behold!
I am reluctant to name names for the sake of forgetting or offending anyone. But, there was one couple I would like to personally mention.
Burt and Donna Seavey (class of ’58) have become my dear friends over the past few years. God had brought our paths together and I am grateful for their influence in my life.
I had asked them to be my guest lecturers in my class, “Discipleship in the Church.” What a wonderful time we had as the Word of God went forth in the classroom, and then the Spirit of God fell as the class turned into a prayer sanctuary. The gifts of God were present and Jesus was glorified. Praise His Name Forever! Our class will never forget this sovereign move of God.
What a wonderful time as the elder alumni and the students were on hallowed ground worshipping the King of Kings together.
